No one talks about caricature in Korea. But it’s one of the cutest souvenirs you could bring back!

Walking on the streets of Hongdae, we were there to shop after a nice lunch. But when I saw this adorable caricature shop, I knew that I had to go in with my friend!

I’ve always seen caricatures done by artists in New York on the streets, but none of them were really something I would personally want to have hung up on my wall. The style of art just wasn’t cute, while I know it’s the style of caricatures in New York, I didn’t really like how the caricatures overly-emphasize your features.

But I’ve always liked the concept of caricatures and how they capture photos and an artistic look of you. And when I saw the examples that they had laid out, I was immediately intrigued to have a caricature from Korea that I could keep as a travel souvenir.

Acorn Caricatures had multiple different options for you to purchase: long strip, A4, and other styles. There was even an option for you to purchase wooden frames from the store for your caricature!

I went with my friend Ruby!

Each caricature was 7000 won, and it’s around $4.91 which is basically the same price as an art print you would get at a stationary store except it’s custom and unique to you!

We eventually decided that we wanted to have two caricatures done, so I did a photo of my dog and I on my 19th birthday. And we also had a caricature done of my friend and I sitting next to each other that isn’t pictured above, but it’s been featured on my wall. It was amazing to see our features and differences captured so uniquely in the art, and we were super excited for the reveal.

If you wanted two copies of the same print, they would take your print to the back and print the same version on the same hard stock paper and provide that alongside your other caricature free of charge. So no worries if you had wanted multiple of the same caricature!

They even had a freebie where if you followed them on Instagram, you could choose from their stack of adorable art prints that featured different animals in the same art style!

While it was a small store, there was a continuous flow of people coming in and out from the store as it’s such a speedy process. We saw couples, friends, people in military uniforms, and even an entire family. The shop also happens to be in one of the most popular shopping streets in Korea, so visiting this caricature shop is not out of the way at all!

I was able to purchase my favorite brown jacket and a cap from the new Matin Kim store that has only just recently opened up there, but there were also a ton of sweet dessert shops in the area that I wish I had took more advantage of!

Conclusion

If you’re looking for a travel souvenir from Korea to decorate your wall, look no further because this caricature shop is the one for you! Especially since Acorn Caricatures has multiple shops across the major cities in Korea, it shouldn’t be too hard to visit any one of the stores!

These caricatures would be perfect to have on your wall on top of any photo booth strips that you could also get at Korea! It was a regret of mine to not have captured more photos at the photo booths at Korea, but this caricature has always brought a smile to my face everytime I see it on my wall when entering my room!

This is your sign to visit Acorn Caricature in Korea for the perfect art print to collect as a travel souvenir from Korea!
